Who are Moses and Elijah coming? When the Gospel of Matthew is clearly studied, Jesus Christ is portrayed as Moses. The death of the infants took place just as it did at the birth of Moses. Pharaoh and Herod tried everything they could to keep the Promised Seed alive. Jesus Christ lived by the commandments of the Law. John the Baptist was known as the coming Elijah.
