Onam and first fruits
Onam is celebrated in South India as a time when tree plants, from ancient civilization onwards, give their goodness to God, fellow human beings and animals at the time of best harvest.
In the Bible, it is called the firstfruits sheaf. All nations give their firstfruits to God under different names. The seasons change from country to country, and the timing of the harvest varies from season to season.
