Inspirational Thoughts for the New Year

A New Year represents new possibilities for all. Christians may wish to mark the new year by greater spirituality by a renewed commitment to Christ.  Christianity is about new beginnings. Christians believe that when a person gives his/her life to Christ, the believer gets a new lease on life according to the following words in Romans 6:4,
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
All Things Have Become New As the old year is left behind, Christians can look forward to fresh opportunities to experience a higher level of spirituality by leaving old behaviours and habits behind, as the Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:17,"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!."
Old Ways Have Been Put To Death The Bible speaks encouraging words to those who struggle to put their pa…

Surrender Yourself Totally To God's Control

When you surrender yourself to God's control, you relinquish or give up any power and yield yourself totally to the Almighty God. You also allow your desires and attitudes to be challenged, and over-ruled by God. Total surrendering is saying, "Yes Lord" to whatever He asks you to do.Surrendered people obey God, even when it does not make sense to them and other people around them. You will get fantastic results when you decide to surrender totally to God, for His glory. When you let go and let God, you know you are totally yielded to God.

King David, himself a former shepherd, begins this Psalm with, “The Lord is my shepherd,” immediately putting himself as a sheep in the care of Jesus Christ (who is the same being as the Lord of the Old Testament-see John 1:1-3, 14 and Heb. 1:2). This analogy of Christ as a shepherd and His chosen ones as sheep, is reinforced in several scriptures, especially in John 10, John 21:15-17and Hebrews 13:20. The shepherd is the provider and protector of his flock. The sheep are helpless without him. Similarly, human existence is but a sinful, carnal experience without God in our lives (John 5:30; Rom. 8:6-11).
Continuing with, “I shall not want,” David indicates here that as a sheep in Christ’s care, he was confident that he would lack nothing. This sentiment is repeated in Psalms 34:9-10, and clearly indicates David’s understanding in regards to putting God and God’s way first in his life (see Matthew 6:25-34). He goes o…

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child,…

Jesus speaks to God the Father on our behalf

Some people may think that sin is a normal part of the Christian life. They agree that we will continue to sin. They may even think that it does not matter. God will forgive us when we sin. But sin does matter. Christians ought not to continue to sin. They should not sin. Sin is an enemy that will move us from the light. (That is, it will move us away from everything that is good, holy, and right.) Sin will get between God and us. It spoils the joy that Christians should share.
John writes as a father. He writes to his children whom he loves. He tells them that they should not sin. He wrote the letter to help them not to sin.

We should not sin but we are human and weak. If we sin, we have to confess it to God. We must decide that we will not do that sin again. If possible we should put right what we have done wrong. And we must ask the Lord to forgive us our sin.
If anyone does sin, God has the remedy for it. Someone is ready to help us. He comes to our rescue. This perso…

Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?-Malachi 3:7..
THOUGHTS ON THE VERSE:In times of horror and disaster, people routinely ask, "Where is God in all of this?" Yet we so often leave God at the periphery of our lives and look for him only when we are desperate and have no other options. When things are going well, we seldom say, "Where is God in all of this? Why, he's right here blessing us! Let's praise him for his goodness!" God pleads with us to turn to him and seek after him, in good times and in bad. Not only will we find him; he will return to us and walk with us. MY PRAYER:Father, I confess that I have let my relationship with you slip and that I have not pursued your presence in my life as much as I could. Please be with me and all your Church as we seek you and your presence daily in o…

Ready or Not-Here He comes in a blink of an Eye!

John 14:1-4 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
